Meet the Principal

Dear Collins Families,

Welcome to the 2024-25 school year! We are thrilled to welcome students and staff back to school on Monday, August 12 at 8:00 am. We hope that you were able to rest, relax, and enjoy all the pleasures that come with summer vacation. We are eager and very excited to begin what promises to be a very successful year as we focus on continuous improvement in teaching and learning, social emotional support, and all areas of our school environment. This year, we are thrilled to welcome several new staff members who will be joining our exceptional team. I am also excited to announce that we have a new Assistant Principal, Mrs. Rebecca Johns. Their passion and expertise will further enrich our school community, and we are excited for the positive impact they will make. A special welcome to all new preschool, transitional kindergarten, and kindergarten families joining school for the first time.

Our dedicated staff has been hard at work preparing for the return of our students, ensuring that our classrooms are
ready for a productive and engaging year of learning. We are committed to providing a safe, supportive, and stimulating environment where every student can thrive academically, socially, and emotionally.

At Collins Elementary, we believe that strong partnerships between school and home are essential for student success. We encourage you to stay involved in your child's education and to communicate openly with us. Please mark your calendars for our Back-to-School Night, on August 29th, from 5:00-6:30 pm, where you will have the chance to meet your child's teacher and learn more about our exciting plans for the year. We are also very enthusiastic about working with all the active and involved parents that make Collins School a great place to learn and grow. You are encouraged to become a member of our fabulous Collins Parent Teacher Association (PTA) as well as the School Site Council (SSC) and English Learner Advisory Committee (ELAC). Volunteering and participating in events throughout the school year not only benefits your child, but all children in the Collins School community. Be on the lookout for details via Parent Square messages, flyers, and our school website.
Please be sure to reach out if you have any questions or concerns at (562) 602-8008 and we will be happy to assist you.

Sincerely,
Margie A. Domino
